1. Utah Guard linguists bridge language gap for 'Beyond the Horizon Guatemala'
   Utah National Guard members from the 300th Military Intelligence Brigade are deployed as linguists in support of Beyond the Horizon Guatemala 2012 and are bridging the communication gulf between U.S. military personnel and the host nation's military and citizens.
2. Survey team gains experience supporting Beyond the Horizon exercise
   A four-person Missouri Army National Guard survey team from the 35th Engineer Brigade out of Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. has honed their Soldiers' skills during a recent three-week deployment to Naco Cortes, Honduras, in support of Beyond the Horizon-Honduras 2012.
3. Austin: Army takes advantage of training opportunities with reduced OPTEMPO
   With the military out of Iraq, there's more time for Soldiers to train for the next fight, the vice chief of staff of the Army said.
4. Women continue to advance in the Army
   In recent days the Army announced two significant moves that open thousands of new opportunities to women. First is a six-month assessment of an exception to the Direct Ground Combat Assignment Rule.
5. Maryland Army Guard unveils newest helicopter in its arsenal
   The Maryland Army National Guard unveiled its first of four UH-72A Lakota helicopters, April 18, 2012. The aircraft will replace the older OH-58A Kiowa as their premier aircraft for civil support, search and rescue and homeland security missions.
